03Why we exist

Because a life with Jesus is meant to deepen, not just begin.

We've spent years serving in the Church, walking alongside people, teaching Scripture, and helping others grow in their faith. And along the way, we've wrestled with something in our own lives, too.

There's a gap between what we know about Jesus and how we're actually learning to live like Him.

We have more access to incredible teaching and experiences than ever before. And yet, as pastors and as ordinary people trying to follow Jesus ourselves, we've seen how easy it is to accumulate knowledge, stay busy with religious activity, and still struggle to become more like Christ in the ways we think, love, work, and live.

We don't believe the answer is simply more information or another inspiring experience. Those things matter, but genuine transformation takes something more: a life rooted in Jesus, shaped over time through intentional practices, meaningful relationships, and the ordinary moments of everyday life. We really do believe that a person becomes what they do.

That's the conviction behind Raven Lily Ministries.

We exist because spiritual formation isn't something we occasionally make time for. It's the lifelong journey of learning to live with Jesus to become more like Him, in step with the Spirit, right in the middle of the lives we're already living.

We're creating tools to help bridge that gap, and not because we've figured it all out, but because we're on this journey, too.

One ordinary day at a time.

04Why long-term matters

Becoming like Jesus takes a lifetime. And every ordinary day matters.

We don't become more like Jesus all at once. It happens slowly, as we learn to walk with Him through the joys, disappointments, routines, and responsibilities of everyday life. It's in the ordinary moments of playing on the floor with our kids, navigating the ups and downs of marriage, showing up for work, or caring for an aging parent. It's in the unexpected diagnosis, the strained relationship, the prayers that seem unanswered, and the quiet decisions no one else sees.

Over time, through prayer, intentional practices, honest friendships, and the grace to begin again, something begins to change. We learn to love differently, respond differently, and live more and more like the One we're following.

This is the lifelong work of discipleship. And it's a life worth giving ourselves to.

05Who we are

We believe following Jesus is meant to transform the whole of our lives.

Raven Lily Ministries is a Christian nonprofit devoted to helping people become more like Christ through intentional practices, meaningful relationships, and a lifetime of spiritual formation.

06What we believe

A lone oak in an open field

Formation is a lifelong process of abiding in Christ.

We believe that spiritual formation is the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus as we abide in Him. It is not simply the result of religious activity or personal effort, but partnership with God's Spirit in the transforming work of God’s grace in which we learn to participate through intentional practices, meaningful relationships, and daily surrender.

Statement of Faith

What We Believe

The theological foundations of Raven Lily Ministries

At Raven Lily Ministries, we stand within the historic Christian faith, rooted in Scripture and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Christian life is more than a moment of belief or a collection of religious activities. It is an invitation into a lifelong relationship with the living God: a life of abiding in Christ, in step with the Spirit, being transformed by His grace, and learning to live as He lived.

These convictions shape everything we do.

God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

God the Father

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men and women.

God the Son

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever-present Lord.

God the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

Scripture

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and are authoritative for Christian faith and life. Through Scripture, we encounter the story of God's redemptive work, come to know Jesus Christ, and learn to live faithfully within His Kingdom.

We approach Scripture not merely as information to be mastered, but as God's Word through which our minds, imaginations, desires, and lives are formed.

Humanity, Sin, and Redemption

We believe every human being is created in the image of God, possessing inherent dignity and worth, and made for loving relationship with God and others.

Sin has distorted that relationship, affecting every dimension of human life. Yet God, in His love and mercy, has acted through Jesus Christ to reconcile and restore His creation.

We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, reconciliation with God, new life in the Spirit, and the hope of resurrection and the renewal of all things.

The Kingdom of God

We believe the Kingdom of God has come near in Jesus Christ and will be brought to its fullness when He returns.

To follow Jesus is to learn to live under His gracious reign here and now, allowing His teachings, character, and way of life to shape our relationships, work, decisions, and daily practices.

The Christian life is not simply preparation for life after death, but participation in the life of God's Kingdom today.

Spiritual Formation and Discipleship

We believe spiritual formation is the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus as we abide in Him.

This transformation is the work of God's grace, through the Holy Spirit, in which we are invited to participate through intentional practices, meaningful relationships, obedience, and daily surrender.

Prayer, Scripture, solitude, worship, service, and other historic Christian practices do not earn God's favor. Rather, they help us become increasingly attentive and responsive to the God who already loves us.

We believe discipleship is not reserved for a select few. Every follower of Jesus is invited into the lifelong journey of being formed into His likeness.

The Church and Christian Community

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and embody the love and character of Jesus in the world.

Christian formation is not an isolated pursuit. We are shaped through shared worship, honest relationships, mutual encouragement, accountability, and lives of service.

Raven Lily Ministries exists to support and strengthen the work of the Church, never to replace it.

The Hope of New Creation

We believe Jesus Christ will return to bring God's Kingdom to its fullness, judge the living and the dead, and make all things new.

Our hope rests in the resurrection of Jesus and God's promise of the resurrection of the dead and the renewal of creation.

This future hope shapes how we live today, with faithfulness, humility, courage, and love.

Our Conviction

We believe a life with Jesus is meant to deepen, not just begin.

Spiritual formation is not an event, a program, or a measure of religious achievement. It is the patient, lifelong work of God's grace as we learn to abide in Christ and become increasingly like Him.

This is the work to which Raven Lily Ministries is devoted.

Deep roots. Slow growth.
